Design Concept

The Type 7B "Blakjak" is a Class B (non-radioactive) self-winding dive capable field watch. An evolution of the MIL-W-46374F Type 6 SANDY 660 the Type 7B "Blakjak" represents an upspec'd version of the Type 6 concept. The Type 7B features modifications and improvements to the Type 6 specification including an automatic winding movement, day/date complication, 200 m water resistance, and drilled lugs. The bezel was redesigned to incorporate a DLC coated, engraved stainless steel inlay that is canted inward to improve the wear resistance of the inlay and improve protection of the crystal. The tritium gas tubes were replaced with SuperLumiNova BGW9 luminous material which in addition to being non-radioactive, will not degrade with time like tritium. SLN BGW9 only requires periodic re-charging by an external light source in order to function for the life of the time piece.

Dial Design

Maximal information density designed for optimal readability. Through a combination of font, color and spatial distinctions the design hierarchy provides the 12/24 time, date, and day in a legible package. The chaptering is curved towards the minute and seconds hands to minimize parallax error. The day of the week wheel is a dual function english or roman numeral format. The roman numerals used for when it's more important to know how many days have elapsed than the day of the week.

The Hands

Larger luminous windows in the hour and minute hand improve night time visibility and the sweep seconds hand features a luminous marker at its tip.

The Case

Designed to seamlessly cross between the civilized and not so civilized world the Blakjak case has been designed to improve the visual balance between bezel and the case body over the Type 6. Furthermore the upgraded solid-end-link bracelet can be replaced with shoulderless spring bars when in more challenging environments due the incorporation of drilled through lugs.

Crystal & Bezel

The case drops away from the tall bezel for easier operation when the user is wearing gloves. The bezel, which stands proud of the sapphire crystal, is sloped inward to provide added protection to the crystal and reduce wear on the bezel inlay. The inlay itself is DLC coated stainless steel and the markers are engraved to provide superior longevity over anodized inlays.
